University College Cork (UCC) dental dean Professor Martin Kinirons has been recognised with a Leadership Award in the university’s Staff Recognition Awards.

The UCC awards are designed to “honour staff members for their outstanding contributions to University life and the wider community”. Individual members of staff and teams were presented with awards nominated by colleagues for their exceptional and influential achievements and contributions.

Prof Kinirons was honoured with the Leadership Award for his “outstanding academic and research leadership and significant contribution as dean to the Dental School and Hospital”. The selection committee was particularly struck by the evidence put forward by members of staff regarding his leadership abilities in encouraging others to succeed as well as “the significant personal skills he has demonstrated in encouraging a positive and performance driven culture within the Dental School and Hospital”.
