Dublin clinic settles breach of contract case
Seapoint Clinic settles Williams damages case
A Dublin dental clinic has settled a breach of contract claim brought against it by model and DJ Vogue Williams.
Williams had claimed €38,000 in damages against Seapoint Clinic in Blackrock which denied the claim and made a counter claim of its own. The case was settled out of court with no details of the settlement being made available to the Circuit Civil Court in Dublin.
Williams, who married former Westlife singer Brian McFadden in September 2012, had claimed she had an agreement for treatment with the clinic to the value of €7,000. She alleged that she agreed to carry out a series of promotional activities for the clinic, including a newspaper interview and a video testimonial for the clinic’s website. She claimed that, after carrying out the agreed publicity, the clinic breached its contract by seeking full payment for her treatment.
However, the clinic delivered a full defence and counter claim alleging that she failed to attend a large number of appointments, which she had failed to cancel and, as a result, the clinic had been put to expense and costs. It claimed that Williams owed them more than €5,000 for her treatment.
Barrister David Boughton, for Williams, told Circuit Court president Mr Justice Raymond Groarke that his client’s claim had been settled and could be struck out with no further order. Barrister Shane English, for Seapoint Clinic, said the defendant was consenting to the order.
