Business award for Northern Irish dentist
Practice created 20 jobs to become one of the largest in province
A Lisburn dentist has been named Business Person of the Year at the fifth biennial Lisburn City Business Awards.
Philip McLorinan, practice principal at Dunmurry Dental Practice, was chosen by the judges for building his practice into one of the largest in Northern Ireland and creating 20 jobs in the nine years since opening his doors.
The judges also found that he put a big emphasis on pushing the boundaries of innovation and an ongoing focus on continuous improvement. The judges were particularly impressed with his very hands-on approach to both client and staff management.
The awards, which recognise excellence in every category from manufacturing and marketing to tourism and hospitality, were announced at a gala evening in the Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn.
Philip said: “I am delighted to win this award for Dunmurry Dental Practice, as we have achieved so much since we opened in 2004. I have a great team behind me and we welcome new patients to our practice, which includes six dentists.”
The Mayor of Lisburn, Alderman William Leathem paid tribute to the hard work and inventiveness that the city’s businesses display on a daily basis to maintain a thriving local economy.
He said: “The winners of these highly competitive awards demonstrate the sheer breadth of business talent that exists in this city. The wider economy may be going through tough times but the industry, imagination and know-how of businesses in Lisburn is continuing to ensure a healthy future for this city.”
Alderman Jim Dillon, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, said this biennial event showcased the commitment and skill of the Lisburn-based companies that contribute so much to the life of the city.
He said: “We have much to celebrate in Lisburn. We have a vibrant, strong business sector and these awards rightly recognise the dedication, drive and spirit of enterprise that they encapsulate.”
