Lincoln Place extension wins RIAI prize for architecture

Award

Dublin Dental University Hospital’s (DDUH) Lincoln Place extension has won a prestigious architectural award.

The development won the Best Health Building award at the 23rd RIAI Irish Architecture Awards held at City Wall Space, Dublin City Council, on 21 June.

The award, presented by Mr Ruairi Quinn, TD, Minister for Education and Skills, was accepted on behalf of the DDUH by Ms Pat O’Boyle, CEO.

The award citation for the Lincoln Place extension read: “A complex and specific series of spaces is deftly inserted into the body of a terrace of listed buildings creating a secret parallel street within, leading to a suite of beautiful rooftop rooms enjoying space, light and views over the grounds of Trinity College. A powerful case is made for harnessing the potential of underused buildings in the city.”

An Irish Architecture Awards Exhibition of all the winning projects will be on view to the public from 1-31 August in the Atrium of Dublin City Council.
