Green Light for two £40m health centres

New health centres to be built in Lisburn and Newry will include provision for community dentistry

Northern Irish Health Minister Edwin Poots has given the go-ahead for two new £40 million health centres that will include provision for community dentistry.

The new facilities – in Lisburn and Newry – will also accommodate GPs and a range of other community health services when they open in 2016.

Health and Social Care Board Chief Executive John Compton said: “This is the first in a planned programme of health and care centre developments which will help address the need for teams to be co-located and provide greater access to health and social care services in community settings.”
